What Gartner Peer Reviews Say About Top MAD Platforms

The latest and possibly most dynamic of the Gartner reports, Gartner Peer Insights, gives us a perspective on MADP solutions that has been missing from the Magic Quadrant and Critical Capabilities so far; the opinion of the companies using the software. What do the actual users have to say about each vendor and how does it compare to the rankings on the Magic Quadrant?

The Peer Insights rank each solution on a scale of one to five, with five being the best. There are several categories each vendor is evaluated on by the user. These include: Evaluation and Contrasting; Integration and Deployment; Service and Support; and Product Capabilities. Each of these is given a rating and from one to five and the average rating among them is what determines the overall score of each platform. These categories also break down further and have a series of more specific questions that go along with them.

The most important thing to keep in mind is the the rating each solutions has, isn’t the most accurate representation of the platform. Some have more reviews than others, which is telling of the market prominence of each solution, but it also gives a less comparable evaluation. For example, Alpha Software has a 5.0 rating with five reviews and Salesforce has a 4.3 rating with 21 reviews. While the 5.0 rating is very impressive, the fact that Salesforce has maintained such a high rating with four times as many reviews, is just as impressive, if not more.

Another section of these reviews that adds value is the Reviewer Profiles section. It doesn’t give the exact identity, but it tells you the industry, the role, job title implementation strategy and a few other key details. This gives you a good jumping off point as to how this platform may work for you, and it also gives certain clout to parts of the review over others, If you’re in the manufacturing industry, reading the review of someone in that industry has a much better better value to you than reading the review of a person in the retail or medical industry. You can clearly see what that industry professional valued about that platform, what they did not, and how that lines up with what you’re looking for.

Peer insights also give you the opportunity to advise others on what you value about your solution and what needs to be improved upon for your industry. Seeing how your opinion lines up with someone else’s can give you new insight into your enterprise mobile application development platform.

The platforms currently covered in the Gartner Peer Insights are: Salesforce, Microsoft, Apple, Alpha Software, Kony, IBM, Telerik, Adobe, Sencha, SAP, Modo Labs, Pegasystems and Verivo Softare.
