Unitrends Unveils New Platform, Backup v10.0

On Wednesday, backup and continuity provider Unitrends released a major platform update, Backup Version 10.0.

The vendor took customer feedback and used it as the inspiration for this upgrade. Their clients wanted a platform that was easy to use but could do more for IT as a whole. This version aims to achieve both of those goals, in addition to giving enterprises a boost in productivity, flexibility and confidence.

So, how does it work? Unitrends provided the following points:

  • Uses backup data (i.e. reduces production copies)
  • Orchestrates instant recovery of on-demand labs
  • Isolates labs from production
  • Controls lab access to key stakeholders
  • Supports physical and virtual environments
  • Requires Enterprise Plus

The solution will keep your business compliant through deep automation and analytics. Plus, v10.0 boasts a variety of features including SLA policy automation, automated provisioning, UI enhancements and more. When it comes to SLA policy automation, this platform controls the initiation and flow of data copies through a single policy. It automates the underlying processes and will check regularly to see if you’re meeting SLA’s.

The platform offers enterprise IT and dev-ops instant access to production data, apps and full labs for test, compliance and other business functions. It’s also answering the following questions for IT pros:

  • Is my data protected?
  • Where is it protected?
  • How long will recovery take?
  • How much data will I lose?

“With v10.0, Unitrends extends the simplicity of all-in-one backup and continuity to empower our customers in new, more productive ways,” said Paul Brady, CEO of Unitrends. “The automation, orchestration, reporting and compliance capabilities we’ve added will bring a new level of autonomy to IT and DevOps teams. After a record quarter in growth and adoption of our enterprise appliances and cloud services, these capabilities could not have come at a better time for our customers.”

The platform is part of a new world of products that features fully automated, application-level testing and failover. It proactively uncovers recovery issues for physical as well as virtual environments and provides business-level Disaster Recovery compliance report automation. This new solution can be implemented on-prem or in the cloud.

v10.0 is expected to be on the market by the end of June. Click here for more information and check out the video below to learn more about v10.0.
