Veritas Technologies provides backup and recovery, business continuity, information governance, and storage management tools. Its NetBackup product is a single and scalable solution that can protect physical, virtual, and cloud workloads. Multitenant support is optional, and the solution is available on a converged platform that requires minimal administration, even in large environments. It eliminates point products and improves productivity within a business using centralized, policy-based management. Veritas also incorporates innovative technologies for data reduction and bandwidth efficiency while providing extensive indexing and search capabilities. To extend its digital compliance portfolio, Veritas acquired Globanet in 2020.

NetBackup provides more resiliency against ransomware through these features:

  • Integrated AI/ML anomaly detection to alert backup admins of potential issues and ensure data is always recoverable.
  • NetBackup Flex is a new, ransomware-hardened appliance that delivers protection from the edge of the enterprise network to the core data center. The new Flex 5350 offers additional capacity and is a good choice for consolidating demanding core data center workloads.
  • Continuous Data Protection and Instant Rollback capabilities enable VMware users to quickly recovery from ransomware and other events in minutes instead of hours.
  • Immutable storage on Amazon S3, which allows businesses to meet stringent compliance requirements while offering complete protection against ransomware.

In a press statement, Doug Matthews, VP of Product Management at Veritas, said, “with the increase in ransomware attacks targeting mission-critical infrastructure like oil and gas, healthcare, telecommunications, and beef and dairy, our newest NetBackup release represents a significant advancement in Veritas’ leadership of backup and recovery solutions by further protecting customers against increasingly prevalent ransomware attacks, irrespective of where their data resides: cloud, containers, or on-premises.”
