The awards take into account both the number of end-user reviews, and the overall user ratings.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Awards were given based on several criteria. The vendor must have at least 50 published reviews in the market guide during the submission period and must pass Gartner\u2019s validation, conflict of interest and moderation process. Additionally, any solution provider must have a bare minimum of one tool designated by Gartner\u2019s analysts as relevant in the marketplace.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">In a press statement, Gartner&#8217;s executive vice president of Products and Services Ken Davis added: &#8220;Gartner Peer Insights Customers&#8217; Choice is designed to help IT professionals make better purchase decisions by leveraging the knowledge and feedback by fellow verified end users.\u00a0We work hard to ensure that all of the reviews are submitted by an IT professional or business user who has had experience purchasing, implementing and\/or using the enterprise solution they are reviewing \u2014 free from conflicts of interest.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">This year&#8217;s Customer Choice Awards were given to 7 providers. Though it had the second-fewest reviews (84), Cohesity took the top spot with 4.8 stars (out of 5). The company&#8217;s DataProtect product consolidates secondary storage silos onto a hyperconverged data platform that spans public and private cloud environments. SEP earned runner-up status with a score of 4.7. SEP offers a backup and recovery tool for heterogeneous environments.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Veeam and Actifio shared scores of 4.6 in a tie for third place. However, the former had many more reviews (248 to 88). Headquartered in Switzerland, Veeam is a major player in the marketplace and offers two relevant products (Veeam Availability Suite and Veeam Backup &amp; Replication). Actifio&#8217;s Enterprise, Sky, and Copy Data Virtualization products are powered by its patented Virtual Data Pipeline Technology.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">With scores of 4.5, 4.3, and 4.3 respectively, Unitrends, Commvault, and Acronis round out the winners. Unitrends offers data protection tools for physical, virtual, and cloud environments, while Commvault has broadened its horizons, now referring to itself as a data management solutions provider. Acronis provides hybrid cloud data protection and storage, and offers three related software products: Acronis Backup, Acronis Backup Cloud, and Acronis Disaster Recovery Service.<\/p>\n<p
