Without these capabilities, businesses are at risk of incurring those severe fines.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><div class=\"widget\"><div class=\"aside-card\">\t\t\t<div class=\"textwidget\"><p><a class=\"speedbump-1\" href=\"https:\/\/solutionsreview.com\/backup-disaster-recovery\/get-a-free-backup-and-disaster-recovery-buyers-guide\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-1682\" title=\"Data Protection Vendor Map\" src=\"https:\/\/solutionsreview.com\/backup-disaster-recovery\/files\/2021\/05\/21_BUDR_SB_BG_Blue_800.gif\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div><\/div><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><a href=\"https:\/\/ico.org.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Information Commissioner\u2019s Office<\/a> (ICO) <a href=\"https:\/\/ico.org.uk\/for-organisations\/guide-to-the-general-data-protection-regulation-gdpr\/personal-data-breaches\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">states that when reporting a breach<\/a> to the authorities, you must provide:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify\">\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">A description of the nature of the personal data breach including, where possible:<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The categories and approximate number of individuals concerned; and<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The categories and approximate number of personal data records concerned;<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The name and contact details of the data protection officer (if your organization has one) or other contact point where more information can be obtained;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">A description of the likely consequences of the personal data breach; and<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">A description of the measures taken, or proposed to be taken, to deal with the personal data breach, including, where appropriate, the measures taken to mitigate any possible adverse effects.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">With all of that taken into account, it\u2019s clear that a thorough backup and disaster recovery (BUDR) solution will be crucial in the new age of GDPR. It\u2019s important to learn how BUDR providers are responding to the new regulation, as it speaks to the amount of assistance they can provide. We\u2019ve compiled responses from the top BUDR providers, Dell EMC, IBM, and Commvault.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><b>Dell EMC<\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Dell EMC provides information concerning GDPR on their <a href=\"https:\/\/datasecurity.dell.com\/gdpr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">page dedicated to the subject.<\/a> The page provides white papers and infographics on how to prepare for GDPR, as well as links to Dell EMC\u2019s security solutions. Additionally, the vendor offers a free evaluation of your organization\u2019s security and data protection capabilities. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In <a href=\"https:\/\/www.siliconrepublic.com\/enterprise\/brett-hansen-dell-gdpr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a conversation about GDPR,<\/a> vice president of client software and general manager of data security at Dell, Brett Hansen believed that the regulation is an opportunity to re-evaluate and ask questions, such as, \u201cWhat is our data security policy? Are there practices we want to implement? How are we ensuring the security and protection of data throughout its lifecycle?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><b>IBM<\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">IBM has also created a comprehensive <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ibm.com\/security\/data-security\/gdpr?ce=ISM0484&amp;ct=SWG&amp;cmp=IBMSocial&amp;cm=h&amp;cr=Security&amp;ccy=US\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">page dedicated to GDPR.<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> This page offers a GDPR readiness assessment in addition to a general overview of GDPR, along with a number of resources containing more information on the subject. The vendor also makes note of the services it can provide in the process of becoming compliant, which include security, analytics, cloud, and data storage.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ibm.com\/data-responsibility\/gdpr\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">IBM made a statement<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> about its commitment to GDPR readiness, which read, \u201cas part of IBM\u2019s ongoing commitment to privacy by design, IBM has embedded data protection principles even more deeply into its business processes, products, and services so that our clients can better meet their own data protection objectives.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><b>Commvault<\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Like the above vendors, Commvault has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.commvault.com\/solutions\/by-topic\/gdpr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a section of its website devoted to GDPR.<\/a> The page offers webinars on the subject, as well as a white paper which suggests software and cloud providers to consider to assist in meeting GDPR compliance needs. In addition to this, the company outlines the ways it supports compliance through sensitive data governance, data protection solutions, and compliance searches. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">According to Commvault, \u201cdata privacy, whether driven by GDPR or any of the global legislations, is just the right thing to do and should be treated as a cornerstone of your data management strategy.
