\"SolarWindsIT management software provider, SolarWinds,<\/a> recently announced<\/a> that it has launched management for Mac capabilities within its SolarWinds MSP product portfolio. The latest set of capabilities within SolarWinds Remote Monitoring and Management (RMM) provides an experience for managing, monitoring, and protecting Mac devices across customer environments from the same dashboard as current Windows devices. Management for Mac is designed in alignment with SolarWinds\u2019 aim to provide solutions that are designed to simplify the jobs of technology professionals and to help MSPs be more successful.<\/span><\/p>\n

Through the new Mac device management features, MSPs have the ability to assist in reducing the attack surface of their network by detecting threats such as malware and viruses with robust antivirus (AV) from the same dashboard as current Windows devices. In addition to this, users can save time by reusing Windows AV profiles for Mac devices, view real-time AV reports, and protect and monitor their Mac endpoints at all times with automatic remediation.<\/span><\/p>\n

In a press statement, Senior Product Manager at SolarWinds MSP, Brian Best, said \u201ca recurring and well-understood problem that MSPs face is how to manage Mac devices as easily and as transparently as they manage Windows machines. The new management feature set for Mac devices is designed with three essential functions in mind: protecting end customers from data loss, protecting Mac devices from the latest cyber threats and the losses resulting from security breaches, and easily automating routine tasks, including patch. The ability to manage both Mac and Windows devices from the same dashboard is a significant milestone for our partners as we continue our commitment to Mac management and support.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

MSPs can also further protect Mac users from data loss by automatically backing up important files to the cloud twice a day, making them easily recoverable through Backup Documents. This minimizes downtime from hardware failures, natural disasters, ransomware, accidental deletions, and user error.<\/span><\/p>\n

In addition to this, Management for Mac also offers built-in checks and automated maintenance tasks, including a Managed Patch solution, as well as the ability to use templates or custom scripts.<\/span><\/p>\n
