\"TeradiciCloud access software provider, Teradici,<\/a> recently released<\/a> the results of a new study examining the state and opinions of IT professionals regarding the use of hybrid and multi-cloud environments for virtual desktops and workstations. Of the respondents who had deployed a hybrid or multi-cloud strategy, which was just over half of the respondent group, 87% felt that it was an important part of their disaster recovery preparedness. The ability to move workloads from one cloud to another was a key factor, with 34% of those who have done so citing disaster recovery as the motivation.<\/span><\/p>\n

Cloud resources can be offsite, mitigating the risk of disaster affecting the main office location, and can be accessed (and paid for) only as needed. A multi-cloud disaster recovery strategy offers additional peace of mind that critical systems and data will remain easily accessible when necessary.<\/span><\/p>\n

Though hybrid and multi-cloud deployments are widely accepted as good practice, IT professionals highlight training gaps, complexity, and lack of internal resources as reasons for being hesitant to deploy using multiple clouds. However, more than half the respondents were operating in a multi-cloud environment, with almost one in ten using five or more clouds within their organizations.<\/span><\/p>\n

In a press statement, vice president of product management at Teradici, Ziad Lammam said, \u201cwhat we\u2019re hearing from customers, and is consistent with our survey findings, is that they\u2019re looking for ways to simplify and streamline their cloud deployment and management. This is a key driver behind our efforts to expand our platform flexibility – to empower IT teams to use any combination of public clouds, private clouds, and on-premises data centers that best meets their needs, while providing a secure high-performance and easy to manage virtual desktop solution to support deployment and migration of Windows or Linux workloads.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
