Ahana Debuts New Ahana Cloud Features at PrestoCon Day

Ahana announced updates to Ahana Cloud, the self-service analytics company’s Presto database managed service product. The news, which Ahana broke at the virtual PrestoCon Day event, is also available via press release. The new version of Ahana Cloud is highlighted by performance upgrades, better cluster management, ease of use, and security. Ahana is introducing a new data lake IO caching capability that can improve query performance as well.

Ahana offers big data analytics with capabilities that enable users to run ad hoc analysis on open-source PrestoDB. Its main offering is Ahana Cloud, a fully-integrated managed service for AWS. The product features self-service SQL analytics for data analysts, data engineers, data scientists, and product managers, It also includes in-VP managed services, flexible data source and catalog integration, and Presto-as-a-data-warehouse functionality. Ahana Cloud can be purchased via pay-as-you-go model so you only pay for what you use.

Data lake IO caching is built on the RubiX open-source project and eliminates the need to read data from data lakes if the same data is read over and over. A pre-tuned Presto cluster capability lets new clusters come pre-tuned with additional features like the Cost-Based Optimizer and Dybamic Filtering. Ease of use updates include automated and versioned upgrades of Ahana Compute Plane, the ability to deploy different instance types for Presto coordinator and workers, support for asynchronous query execution with Apache Superset, and one-click creation of AWS provisioning roles and policies.
