Exago Inc. recently announced the release of a new version of the company’s flagship BI and analytics solution, Exago BI 2017.1. The tool was designed to integrate into web-based applications so non-technical business users can do ad hoc reporting and dashboarding. The update includes enhancements for end-users and host application administrators.

The biggest changes revealed inside the update concern ExpressView, a feature that allows users to view data in an easy-to-digest format that works off of a drag-and-drop interface. Users can now create, view and modify ExpressView data visualizations and KPIs using tabular reports. 2017.1 also introduces a new metadata monitoring service that can be used to report on application usage as well as report execution caching for performance in the running of canned reports.

Additional highlights of the release include:

  • User interface enhancements such as left-pane redesign and sleeker export controls
  • Application monitoring protocols for reporting off of machine resources, report executions and user interface interactions
  • Cache report executions on a per-report basis to minimize database calls
  • Conditional chart point coloring based on formula, more page size options for exports

Exago BI features a 100 percent web-based user interface so end-users require only an internet browser for full functionality, with no plug-ins required. The Exago application and API can be accessed through REST, SOAP or .NET assembly and protocols can be mixed and matched across different applications for maximum flexibility. In addition, Exago BI allows users to choose which elements of the system are employed for different users, and is designed as a single-sign-on through the user’s application.

The company was founded in 2006 in Shelton, Connecticut. Solutions Review recently named them one of the top 6 Embedded Analytics vendors to watch in 2017.
