Tableau Software recently announced the release of new and future innovations across its data analytics and business intelligence portfolio, according to a press release. Highlights of the current and coming capabilities include making analytics more collaborative via Ask Data, Explain Data, and Einstein Discovery in Slack. Tableau is also set to offer expanded business science features through model building and scenario planning. Tableau revealed a new focus on the enterprise in September.

Tableau offers an expansive visual BI and analytics platform and is widely regarded as the major player in the marketplace. The company’s analytic software portfolio is available through three main channels: Tableau Desktop, Tableau Server, and Tableau Online. Tableau connects to hundreds of data sources and is available on-prem or in the cloud. The vendor also offers embedded analytics capabilities, and users can visualize and share data with Tableau Public.

Tableau Virtual Connections enables site administrators to create access points to data sources centrally while Prep Extensions let customers leverage community-developed tools. Integrating Enterprise Data Catalogs will help Tableau customers bring external metadata from EDCs like Collibra, Alation, or Informatica into Tableau. The Tableau ecosystem will also be expanded with Tableau Exchange, Accelerators, a new Hire Me Button in Tableau Public, Tableau Actions, new embedded features, and connected applications.

The Tableau Exchange, Tableau Accelerators in the Exchange, Hire Me button in Tableau Public, Virtual Connections, and Centralized Row-Level Security features are now available. Connected Applications will be available soon with Tableau 2021.4 while others are set for release in 2022.

In a media statement about the news, Tableau Chief Product Officer Francois Ajenstat said: “Whether you’re an analyst, business person, IT manager or developer, we’re making analytics easier, faster and more actionable for anyone, anywhere. By bringing analytics directly where work happens, making it smarter and more actionable, and enabling self-service data management, we will enable more organizations to build a data culture and drive analytics success.”
