TIBCO Software announced today its intent to acquire data and analytics software vendor Information Builders, according to a press release on the company’s website. The news comes just a few short months after Information Builders announced its re-branding to ibi. Information Builders is a New York-based solution provider that offers a wide range of BI and data management software tools. The company’s WebFOCUS platform features self-service analytics and data discovery, a visual discovery insight mode, predictive capabilities, and more.

TIBCO’s product capabilities are expansive and range from data integration and API management to visual analytics, reporting, and data science. The company’s BI and analytics portfolio comes in two main iterations: TIBCO Spotfire and TIBCO Jaspersoft. TIBCO Spotfire is the company’s more modern platform. It features interactive visualization, data preparation, enterprise-class governance, and advanced analytic capabilities. TIBCO Jaspersoft supports traditional reporting and embedded BI functionality. TIBCO is publicly traded and based in Palo Alto, California.

The deal will see Information Builders’ data management and analytics capabilities offered alongside TIBCO Connected Intelligence. ibi’s data quality, data preparation, and integration tools will support the TIBCO Any Data Hub and Responsive Application Mesh strategies. TIBCO Hyperconverged Analytics will also be enriched with features from the ibi WebFOCUS platform.

In a media statement on the news, TIBCO CEO Dan Streetman said: “With the acquisition of ibi, we gain access to a broader set of analytics and technology, greatly enhancing our ability to help the world’s leading organizations solve their most complex data problems. The blend of our two companies, with strong and complementary capabilities, will further unlock the potential of real-time data for making faster, smarter decisions.”
