TIBCO Software recently announced JasperReports IO, a scalable microservice designed to generate reports and embeddable data visualizations. Developers can use the service to design and distribute information together with a REST API. The initial release comes in a professional version and is available as a single-instance service. The company also has plans to offer subsequent releases as a scalable microservice.

TIBCO incorporated technology from its JavaScript API framework Visualize.js into this new release. The technology allows software builders to embed reports and visualizations generated by JasperReports IO into the front-end of their applications. The professional version also includes a Dockerfile configuration that enables deployment in a Docker container that can be integrated into DevOps pipelines.

In a statement to the press, the company’s Vice President of Engineering Jan Schiffman said: “JasperReports IO enables users to easily integrate reports and data visualizations into their cloud-native applications. We’ve created a unique service that’s built on the data connectivity and rendering capabilities of our core TIBCO JasperReports Library, accessed with a web-native API and integrated with Visualize.js. JasperReports IO is perfect for modern container-based architectures and allows users to realize the operational efficiencies of DevOps.”

This announcement comes on the heels of TIBCO’s Spotfire X release, an AI-driven analytics solution featuring native language processing, machine learning recommendations, and model-based authoring. TIBCO also announced that its flagship data science product will soon be available on the AWS Marketplace. TIBCO Data Science allows data scientists to collaborate using big data and machine learning within native AWS resources like Amazon EMR and Amazon Redshift, Hadoop, and databases.

JasperReports IO can be downloaded through the end of the year as an extended free trial here.
