\"Tek<\/a>IT services and staffing solutions company TEKsystems recently conducted a detailed survey of IT industry leaders.\u00a0 In September 2013, TEKsystems conducted an online survey of 890 IT CIOs, directors, hiring managers, and VPs.\u00a0 The IT leaders from Canada and the U.S. were asked about the current state of IT workforce challenges, expectations, hiring plans, and spending for 2014.\u00a0 The IT leaders surveyed work for small, mid-sized, and large companies in the financial services, government, healthcare, and manufacturing industries.<\/p>\n

Overall, IT leaders are optimistic about the prospects for next year, according to TEKsystems\u2019 2014 Annual IT Forecast.\u00a0 62 percent of survey respondents expect to see an increase in their IT budget for 2014.\u00a0 This is an increase of 14 percent from 2013.\u00a0 66 percent of IT executives are confident in their ability to satisfy business demands in 2014, a 12 percent increase from 2013.\u00a0 The survey also indicates that the top business challenges for IT leaders will be raising growth\/profitability, reducing operational costs, and managing their workforce.<\/p>\n

Top 5 trends or technology expectations for 2014<\/b>\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

When asked which trends or technologies will have the greatest impact for their organization in 2014, the IT leaders answered with the following:<\/p>\n

1.\u00a0 Business Intelligence\/Big Data<\/p>\n

2.\u00a0 Security<\/p>\n

3.\u00a0 Mobile<\/p>\n

4.\u00a0 Cloud Computing<\/p>\n

5.\u00a0 Virtualization<\/p>\n

In a recent article from news website Business 2 Community, contributor Andy Donovan wrote about the anticipated prevalence of cloud computing for 2014.\u00a0 \u201cIn particular, the analysts assume that the so-called hybrid cloud storages are likely to play a prevailing part in the IT world.\u00a0 Additionally, the further development and improvement of \u2018client-cloud\u2019 infrastructure and the upgrade of personal cloud storages are also expected in 2014,\u201d Donovan writes in the article \u201cTop IT Trends: Expectations for 2014.\u201d<\/p>\n

More than 80 percent of IT leaders predict that their IT staff\u2019s salaries will increase in 2014.\u00a0 In order for IT executives to meet their goals for 2014, TEKsystems recommends that the leaders will have to prioritize their projects and recruit skilled programmers\/developers, project managers, and help desk\/technical support personnel.<\/p>\n
