Looker recently announced<\/a> a new integration with Workplace by Facebook, the social media giant’s collaboration platform aimed at the enterprise. Workplace offers organizations a Facebook-like social media experience that allows individual users to communicate and share resources. It also houses third-party productivity apps and enables the creation of custom integrations with Workplace Service Partners. The Looker integration provides data analysis directly from the tool into Workplace.<\/p>\n

Looker offers a BI and data analytics platform that is built on LookML, the company\u2019s proprietary modeling language. Looker connects to any relational database like Amazon Redshift or Google BigQuery, and automatically generates data models for specific schemas. Users can refine the models to reflect company-specific metrics and business logic to build KPI dashboards and departmental reports.<\/p>\n

Utilizing Looker atop the Workplace platform eliminates the need for users to log into a separate tool to view data and analysis. The integration will allow Looker to push data into Facebook Workplace allowing users to work in the same space they collaborate. The integration will also provide users the ability to automate reports and dashboards to be scheduled. Conversely, users can set alerts to automatically notify Workplace users of important changes.<\/p>\n

In a statement, Looker’s Vice President of Alliances Keenan Rice said: “Organizations are becoming increasingly complex and reliant on fresh, up-to-the-minute data to drive their business.\u00a0Combining Looker\u2019s application integration capability with the company-wide collaboration of Workplace further streamlines workflows that rely on critical business data. We\u2019re excited to deliver this unique capability to our joint customers.”<\/p>\n

In February, Looker unveiled new features<\/a> to make it easier for business users to do self-service analysis. Headlined by improvements to content experience, the company added a new dynamic user homepage that suggests more relevant contextual insights, as well as the ability to curate and control what’s seen.<\/p>\n
