Sisense and Periscope Data have entered into a merger, according to a joint press release<\/a> issued by the two data analytics companies today. Sisense has seen its star rise considerably in the crowded BI marketplace since CEO Amir Orad<\/a> took over in February of 2015. As a result of the deal, Periscope Data founders Harry Glaser<\/a> and Tom O’Neill and their teams are taking leadership roles in the combined business, which will operate under the Sisense brand.<\/p>\n

Periscope Data is known for its flexible data analytics platform that allows users to ingest, store, analyze, visualize and report on data. It has consistently been a leading vendor in applying advanced features like predictive analytics, machine learning, natural language processing and data cleansing technologies. Based in San Francisco, California and founded in 2012, Solutions Review named Periscope a 2019 Analytics and Business Intelligence Vendor to Watch<\/em><\/a> last December.<\/p>\n

In a blog post<\/a>, Periscope’s co-founder and CEO Harry Glaser wrote about the merger, saying: “Sisense is the leading business intelligence platform on the market, specializing in BI solutions that take disparate data sources, mash them together and provide interactive visualizations of the results. By combining forces, we\u2019re creating a comprehensive business analytics platform that can serve every data user and team at a company, from a data scientist to a sales manager.”<\/p>\n

Sisense was named a visionary in this year’s Gartner Magic Quadrant<\/em><\/a> report, while also bringing its total funding earned to more than $200 million\u00a0with a November capital investment. <\/a>The company also made a commitment to machine learning<\/a> and unveiled a new Data Cognition Engine<\/a> that learns large datasets and can produce microsecond analytical responses in October. With the merger, Sisense now touts more than 2,000 customers.<\/p>\n

We also reached out to Sisense for comment, and the company’s Chief Strategy Officer Guy Levy-Yurista told us how Sisense plans to integrate new technologies from Periscope Data. He said: “Over the next twelve months, we will fully integrate Periscope Data into Sisense. In 2020, Sisense will have a single platform which includes full capabilities from both companies allowing customers to invest in the modules that best meet their unique needs. This also gives customers an opportunity to more quickly gain the insights they need to grow their business.”<\/p>\n
