Big data should supplement judgment, not replace it,\u201d Mr. Costello, told attendees in his speech on the opening day of the conference.<\/p>\n<p>In the article, Mr. Booker captures the rival strengths and weakness of using big data to perform business analytics.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;For example, the company\u2019s current understanding of its brand, which Costello described as mixture of &#8216;irreverence and authenticity,&#8217; wasn\u2019t established by a data study. Rather, this insight was provided, largely, by deep interviews with customer groups, as well as input from the company\u2019s 17,000 worldwide franchisees in 30 countries.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;On the other hand, in the past few years, an analysis of point of sale and social media data revealed a truth: While \u201cdonuts\u201d is part of its name, it wasn\u2019t the core of Dunkin\u2019 Donuts\u2019 business or the basis of future growth.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Some interesting highlights from the article:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Over half of Dunkin&#8217;s business is beverages and less than 20 percent is bakery.<\/li>\n<li>Dunkin introduced some 40 food products last year alone.<\/li>\n<li>Earlier this year Dunkin\u2019 launched nationally its first customer loyalty program to harvest data on customer habits.<\/li>\n<li>The program provides \u201cone-to-one marketing\u201d to Dunkin\u2019 customers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"widget\"><div class=\"aside-card\">\t\t\t<div class=\"textwidget\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/solutionsreview.com\/contact\"><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"Solutions Review Events Ad\" src=\"https:\/\/solutionsreview.com\/business-intelligence\/files\/2026\/06\/SR_Events_Ad_2.png\" alt=\"Solutions Review Events Ad\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div><\/div>\n<h3><\/h3>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A really nice article by Ellis Booker at Data-Informed.com on the keynote speech by the President of Global Marketing at Dunkin Brands to kick-off the 2nd Annual Big Data Retail Forum in Chicago this week. \u201cBig data is not a strategy by itself.
