Tableau Software announced the release<\/a> of Tableau 2021.3, revealing its renewed focus of bringing the Tableau platform to enterprise customers. Featuring new capabilities and enterprise-focused subscription plans, version 2021.3 makes it easier to buy and deploy Tableau across an entire organization. The update also includes new data prep and data catalog improvements which will be available later this month. The news comes on the heels of Tableau’s 2021.2 release<\/a><\/strong><\/span> from July.<\/p>\n

Tableau offers an expansive visual BI and analytics platform and is widely regarded as the major player in the marketplace. The company\u2019s analytic software portfolio is available through three main channels: Tableau Desktop, Tableau Server, and Tableau Online. Tableau connects to hundreds of data sources and is available on-prem or in the cloud. The vendor also offers embedded analytics capabilities, and users can visualize and share data with Tableau Public.<\/p>\n

Tableau Prep now makes it easier for customers to reduce loads\/costs of server resources automatically and generate rows to more easily map out trends in data. New governance features help customers maintain data quality by alerting you of any potential issues and providing visibility into the type of data you have and where it came from. There are also new role-level security features that work by allowing Tableau administrators to centrally configure which users and groups have access to which slices of data configure access.<\/p>\n

New Enterprise Deployment Guidelines (EDG) provides the Tableau reference architecture for enterprise customers with a prescriptive methodology to achieve requirements around availability, scalability, and security. EDG is technology agnostic, platform-independent, and aligned with enterprise data center best practices. The new Dynamic Scaling feature helps enterprises appropriately resource their deployment and ensures enough containers are available during peak demand times and can scale down during low demand time as well.<\/p>\n

In a media statement on the news, Tableau’s Chief Product Officer Francois Ajenstat said: “Tableau has long been a favorite to help individuals see and understand data. We\u2019re making it easier for IT leaders to make it a favorite across the entire enterprise and deliver an end-to-end solution to leverage the full power of data analytics.\u201d<\/p>\n
