Yellowfin recently announced version 9.1 of its flagship data analytics and business intelligence platform, according to a press release. The release features user experience enhancements for analysts, developers and business users inside Yellowfin’s action-based dashboards, data storytelling and reporting. Released in November 2019, Yellowfin 9 debuted an advanced secure presentation tool called Yellowfin Present and add-ons for the company’s companion mobile application.

Yellowfin is an Australia-based BI and analytics company that specializes in dashboards and data visualization. The product features a machine learning algorithm called Assisted Insights that provides automatic answers in the form of easy-to-understand best practice visualizations and narratives. Yellowfin comes pre-built with a variety of dashboards, and users can embed interactive reports into third-party platforms, such as a web page, wiki, or company intranet.

Yellowfin Signals can now be added to dashboards using the new customizable Signals widget. The widget can be filtered to show only signals relevant to the dashboard onto which it is placed so users can see relevant insights faster. Action Buttons (introduced in Yellowfin 9) are now available on tabular reports. Additional reporting feature upgrades include a new Sparkline Advanced Function and Formatter, a capability that provides a visual way to convey business performance.

Yellowfin Code Mode now has added governance and security configurations like role functions to ensure code is only edited by trusted users. Version 9.1 provides users the ability to save Present presentations as Present Themes, a reusable format that lets you design a slide or presentation once and use it repeatedly.

In a media statement regarding the release of Yellowfin 9.1, the company’s CTO Brad Scarff said: “Our latest release focuses on an enhanced user experience for all users – analysts, developers, and business users. Building on the world-leading dashboarding and data storytelling capabilities released last year in Yellowfin 9, version 9.1 includes improved actions and more capabilities to help organizations make data-driven decisions faster.”
