Zoomdata recently announced an extension to its flagship BI product with several new capabilities for streaming analytics, smart tiering, and end-user self-service. Many of the feature updates were driven by real-world use cases from existing Zoomdata customers. The vendor’s goal with this release is to build on its modern architecture, as well as its investment in ease of use.

The release is highlighted by Smart Streaming, which enables connectivity to any streaming data source via real-time blending of streaming data with historical data. The product can connect to any fast data store where streaming data is being landed, or allow users to land streaming data directly through a streaming API.

New intelligent tiering of analytic processing includes smart push-down processing of analytic calculations and derived fields that enable new types of operations and business logic on detailed data on all data sources. External Spark cluster support provides the ability to use an external YARN-managed Spark cluster as an alternative to the vendor’s built-in spark engine.

Dense visual layouts act as interactive dashboard layout management and visualizations that respond to available real-estate to enable self-service experiences and dashboard layouts that provide insights optimally on any device. This upgrade comes with Zoomdata’s interest in hastening time-to-insight, and builds on the company’s end-user enables capabilities and external Spark cluster support.
