Making the Shift to Digital Transformation in 2023

As part of Solutions Review’s Expert Insights Series—a collection of contributed articles written by industry experts in enterprise software categories—Maziar Adl, the co-founder and Chief Technology Officer of Gocious, explains what C-Suite executives can do to make the shift to digital transformation in 2023.

2023 gives C-Suite executives an opportunity to reevaluate business goals and implement change. These executives must confidently identify needed goals and shifts within their business to evaluate how they can adapt to an ever-changing industry landscape. Once a consensus has been reached, the C-suite will initiate a forum across all departments to realign priorities and set the company up for success. This is the optimal time to take on digital transformation processes and unify internally.

Taking on Digital Transformation in 2023

Digital transformation is a long-term commitment, but the payoff is worth the patience. It is better to shift to digital transformation sooner than later, not simply due to the time it takes to see a profit. Gartner reports that 87 percent of senior leaders prioritize digital transformation for their enterprise. Digital transformation is top-of-mind for leaders, and if a company fails to innovate, it will be left behind.

Across any industry developing a product, digital transformation can completely alter the functioning and agility of the organization. For example, within the automotive industry, when it comes time to develop a physical prototype of a car, it requires high costs for parts and time to plan, build, and evaluate. The significant financial and time commitments necessary to build these prototypes can easily be minimized by shifting to digital processes. Developing the prototype digitally allows for saving on parts, especially as supply chain issues make it increasingly difficult to obtain materials.

Once developed digitally, the prototype of the car can then be seen from a 360 view. The prototype can be shared across the entire team, making it incredibly accessible, especially as remote and hybrid work have taken over. Changes can easily be made, and problems can quickly be addressed, allowing for increased agility, decreased costs, and significant time savings.

Increasing Employee Morale with Digital Transformation

When making the shift to digital transformation positively impacts an entire organization. From marketing to development to sales, all teams can interconnect and have complete visibility of any movement. This allows team members to flag problems, allowing for agile shifts quickly.

Taking on digital transformation through developing a product roadmap creates an epicenter for all team members to refer to before, during, and after development. The roadmap clearly outlines costs, parts needed, and timelines. This allows for a full view from all team members, which is especially important as unpredictable, yet often inevitable manufacturing updates require full-team collaboration. Providing this level of connectivity allows for increased communication, regardless of whether the employees are physically together, facilitating a more open work environment and thus increasing employee morale.

The time is now to take on digital transformation. Companies that lag will face increased difficulties amongst competitors who make the switch. For a company to be genuinely innovative, digital transformation is critical. By making the shift, C-Suite executives plan to put employees first, cut costs and decrease time output.
