Application Platform-as-a-Service: Offering Productivity Gains That Your Business Needs

If you haven’t heard of the great products that are allowing the average Joe to develop apps with little to no experience at a rapid speed, you MUST explore the possibilities that Application Platform as a Service (aPaaS) products are bringing to market. Development platforms have shifted to offering low-code or no code options, accommodating builders who have little to no development experience, but want the flexibility to generate new products quickly. aPaas solutions can change the way businesses innovate, by streamlining tasks and adding new functions to everyday business processes.

Named in Gartner’s 2016 Magic Quadrant aPaaS Report, kintone‘s application platform allows users to build custom enterprise applications with no coding required. Applications can then be instantly and securely deployed to internal teams via the kintone iOS and Android mobile app container.

aPaaS products deliver the ability for near anyone to develop business, consumer, web or mobile apps, helping organizations everywhere dream up new tools for consumers and even special apps for employees to access and communicate on off-hours. Once you have access to the easy development tools that aPaas vendors offer, which allow ANYONE to spin up a quick app to address a problem, or fill a gap- you’ll wonder how you ever did without. Low-code and no-code cloud-based tools allow business designers to drag and drop processes and users to configure apps rather than code without ever requiring the need for the management of infrastructure and servers.

Apps help businesses grow, and to embrace this modality is to keep pace with competition, and remain current with the tech capabilities of today. If you don’t provide users with a great enterprise app, it’s likely they might take their business elsewhere. We need apps to keep pace with the changing landscape of finance, and communication.

One of the best things about low-code platforms is that businesses can get started, and shortly thereafter, launch low code creations within the first few days of training- unlike traditional business process management suites.

As the low-code space itself continues to evolve, Forrester predicts that more diverse platform capabilities will temper demand for the new innovation to better serve enterprise needs. Forrester also predicted that bigger technology vendors will adopt low-code platforms as a new offering against traditional business process management suites.

“Right now, the low-code platform space is dominated by smaller emerging vendors,” said Forrester in the Wave’s: Low-Code Development Platforms report. “However, we expect larger more established players, such as IBM and Pegasystems, to begin positioning new offerings that address this space and will help give the use case even more credibility from an enterprise perspective. We hear the imperative for low-code loud and clear.”
