If you’re lucky enough to be around the San Francisco Bay Area this week, you might consider joining the independent software behemoth, Oracle, at the 20th annual Oracle OpenWorld conference, where an estimated 60,000 customers, partners and analysts will gather for the five-day event.
Oracle will announce the release of several new cloud offerings, including a new version of its Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) that will tote , “twice the compute, twice the memory, four times the storage and ten times more I/O [data transfer speed] at a 20 percent lower price than Amazon Web Services”, according to Oracle Chairman, Larry Ellison.
Additionally, Oracle intend to introduce a new collection of partly cloud, partly on-premesis database services.
