In an effort to remedy last weeks outage in North America, Salesforce<\/a> has announced that it will begin running some of its software on Amazon Web Services<\/a>, publicly declaring AWS as Salesforce’s preferred public cloud infrastructure provider\u00a0in today’s press release<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Fortune.com<\/a> reports that Salesforce will spend 400 million on AWS services over the next four years.\u00a0Salesforce illustrates hope that outsourcing to AWS will help prevent outages in the future.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith today\u2019s announcement, Salesforce will use AWS to help bring new infrastructure online more quickly and efficiently. The company will also continue to invest in its own data centres,\u201d said Parker Harris<\/a>, the company\u2019s cloud\u00a0blog<\/a>\u00a0editor.<\/p>\n

Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, App Cloud, Community Cloud and Analytics Cloud will now be available on AWS, although Salesforce\u00a0asserts that it is not\u00a0moving away from their own data centers. The new investment will give the company more options in the event of\u00a0another outage within its own data centers in the future. In their press release, Salesforce discusses the new capabilities that AWS will bring its users.<\/p>\n

“For the first time, we\u2019ll be able to deliver our core services\u2014including Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, App Cloud, Community Cloud, Analytics Cloud and more\u2014for our international infrastructure expansion. This will enable us to bring new infrastructure online more quickly and efficiently in select international markets.”<\/p>\n

Salesforce selected AWS because of the service’s robust enterprise capabilities for supporting its growing global customer base. Additionally, Salesforce believes that AWS will help accelerate its\u00a0ability to bring new infrastructure online more quickly and efficiently.<\/p>\n
