Oracle<\/a> recently\u00a0announced that it has signed an agreement to acquire Dyn<\/a>, a\u00a0cloud-based Internet performance and DNS provider, to extend the Oracle cloud computing platform and provide customers with a one-stop shop for Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) and Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cOracle already offers enterprise-class IaaS and PaaS for companies building and running Internet applications and cloud services,\u201d said Thomas Kurian, President, Product Development, Oracle. \u201cDyn\u2019s immensely scalable and global DNS is a critical core component and a natural extension to our cloud computing platform.\u201d<\/p>\n

The\u00a0software giant\u00a0paid between $600 million and $700 million to acquire Dyn<\/a>, according to\u00a0Fortune.com.<\/p>\n

Earlier on Monday, Dan Primack reported<\/a> that Oracle paid \u201cnorth of $600 million\u201d for the Manchester, N.H.-based company. Oracle and Dyn announced the deal, without financial details, Monday morning.<\/p>\n

\u201cOracle cloud customers will have unique access to Internet performance information that will help them optimize infrastructure costs, maximize application and website-driven revenue, and manage risk,\u201d said Kyle York, Chief Strategy Officer, Dyn. \u201cWe are excited to join Oracle and bring even more value to our customers as part of Oracle\u2019s cloud computing platform.\u201d<\/p>\n
