AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud are dominating the cloud field, but managing these clouds is difficult without the help of a managed service provider. The report is vendor agnostic and Gartner does not endorse any vendor, product, or service in its publication.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">In this report, Gartner evaluates the strengths and weaknesses of 20 managed service providers. The Magic Quadrant graphic plots the vendors based on the completeness of their vision and ability to execute. From here, the vendors can end up in four different categories: Niche Players, Visionaries, Challengers, and Leaders.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">The 20 MSPs selected for this year\u2019s report are: 2nd Watch, Accenture, AllCloud, BESPIN GLOBAL, Capgemini, Cloudnexa, Cloudreach, Cognizant, DXC Technology, Deloitte, HCL Technologies, Infosys, Logicworks, Nordcloud, Onica, Rackspace, REAN Cloud, Smartronix, Tata Consultancy Services, and Wipro.<\/p>\n<aside id=\"text-20\" class=\"twa-wrap widget_text amr_widget\">\n<div class=\"textwidget\">\n<div class=\"widget\"><div class=\"aside-card\">\t\t\t<div class=\"textwidget\"><p><a class=\"msp-speedbump\" title=\"Download link to Managed Service Providers Buyers Guide\" href=\"https:\/\/solutionsreview.com\/cloud-platforms\/managed-service-provider-buyers-guide\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-1682\" src=\"https:\/\/solutionsreview.com\/cloud-platforms\/files\/2018\/07\/Managed-Service-Providers-Speedbump-1.jpg\" alt=\"Download Link to Managed Service Providers Buyers Guide\" width=\"771\" height=\"170\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/aside>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>How Gartner defines cloud managed service providers<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">This Magic Quadrant is very complex in its market definition. In the context of this Magic Quadrant, Gartner has defined a public cloud infrastructure MSP as a vendor that offers managed services and professional services related to infrastructure and platform operations. This can be for one or more hyperscale IaaS or PaaS providers. The MSPs also need to have the ability to deliver cloud-optimized solutions.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Hyperscale integrated IaaS and PaaS providers don\u2019t always have the tools for an average enterprise to utilize them on their own. They require expertise. Most enterprises need an MSP to get the most out of their hyperscale cloud platform\/infrastructure. Gartner sees MSPs as a vital part of cloud success for a growing number of businesses.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>A lot of movement<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Last year\u2019s Magic Quadrant was primarily divided between Leaders and Niche players. Only Melbourne IT was listed as a challenger last year and there were no visionaries at all, which is unusual for Gartner. This year is completely different despite both consisting of 20 MSPs. This year\u2019s quadrant only consists of 3 leaders, versus 7 last year.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">The\u00a0<strong>Leaders\u00a0<\/strong>section contains the vendors that Gartner believes have a track record of successful delivery of high-quality managed services that utilize the capabilities of the cloud platform. It\u2019s notable that this year has lost over half of its Leaders section. Only Accenture, Rackspace, and Cloudreach remain.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">The\u00a0<strong>Challengers\u00a0<\/strong>section consists of vendors that have a strong track record but might not be able to evolve quickly enough to expand beyond their primary geography or use-case focus. This year consists of six vendors versus only one last year. Three leaders last year fell into this category. These three are 2<sup>nd<\/sup>\u00a0Watch, Logicworks, and Smartronix. The remaining three are DXC Technology, Infosys, and Onica. Both DXC Technology and Onica are new to the quadrant this year.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Gartner sees\u00a0<strong>Visionaries<\/strong>\u00a0as vendors who are well positioned for the future. However, they don\u2019t currently have a strong track record of success over a multiyear period. The quadrant was empty last year. This year they have included Capgemini, Cognizant, Deloitte, HCL Technologies, Tata Consultancy Services, Wipro.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">The final category, which is much less crowded than last year, is the\u00a0<strong>Niche Players.\u00a0<\/strong>Gartner defines niche players are vendors who are not well-positioned to achieve broad success in the near future. \u00a0Some of the members in this quadrant are excellent and have a great track record but are regionally focused. Some of the listed providers are new to the market or this market isn\u2019t a core offering. The vendors listed here are AllCloud, BESPIN GLOBAL, Cloudnexa, Nordcloud, and REAN Cloud.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>What to expect going forward<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Gartner points out that customers are demanding more from their MSPs than ever. This makes sense considering the demand for faster releases and the importance of an efficient cloud workload. They state, \u201cSpecifically, MSPs are reporting deals that consistently feature function platform as a service (fPaaS) and other serverless technologies, and application-level services like design and development.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Gartner believes automation is becoming increasingly important in this market, as it is amongst other enterprise technology markets. \u201cMSPs need to either build their own automation or have a strong ability to choose commercial tools and integrate them \u2013 or both.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Gartner notes that pricing and offering structures are evolving. MSPs are adapting to the increase in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/solutionsreview.com\/devops\/container-management-buyers-guide\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">container<\/a> popularity are being integrated into MSP offerings. This is also impacting pricing. They state, \u201cIt is currently common for MSPs to charge for their services as a percentage of the customer\u2019s consumption-based spending on the hyperscale cloud provider, but many MSPs are also exploring a wide variety of alternative pricing structures.
