According to the 2020 Cloud Infrastructure Report<\/em><\/a> released today by cloud transformation service provider AllCloud<\/a>, by the end of 2020, 85 percent of businesses will have a majority of their workloads running in the cloud. The report documents the results of a survey that was administered to over 150 IT professionals in U.S. companies with at least 300 employees. AllCloud found that, as they expected, business cloud infrastructures and related technologies have been growing fast \u2014 and will continue to grow.<\/p>\n

According to the results of the survey, 85 percent of respondents will have at least 50 percent of their IT workloads running on the cloud by the end of the year. This number is up from last year, where only 70 percent stated their workloads were predominantly in the cloud. Roughly 24 percent of professionals said that all of their workloads were in the cloud, suggesting that companies are becoming increasingly comfortable with cloud environments and are more willing to go all-in on a cloud strategy.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe survey findings are consistent with what we\u2019re hearing from our customers,\u201d says Eran Gil, AllCloud’s CEO. \u201cThe \u2018I\u2019m planning on moving to the cloud\u2019 train has long since left the station, with the vast majority of organizations having moved, or are in the process of moving their workloads to the cloud. Likewise, DevOps technologies are rising, and cost continues to take a back seat to more end-user facing benefits of cloud, such as reliability and security. It will be interesting to see how these results shift in 2020.\u201d<\/p>\n

AllCloud also found that 56 percent of IT professionals report that at least seven people in their organizations are responsible for managing and maintaining the company’s cloud infrastructure. While the survey was intended for Amazon Web Services (AWS) users, 49 percent indicated that they also use Microsoft Azure, 40 percent also use Google Cloud, and 32 percent also use IBM Cloud.<\/p>\n
