VMware is updating<\/a> its Virtual Cloud Network solution to help deliver the public cloud experience to on-premise customers, according to a press release on the company’s website. The vendor’s Virtual Cloud Network has seen a recent uptick in use, with VMware reporting that they now have over 15,000 customers for Virtual Cloud Network. This includes 89 Fortune 100 companies and eight of the top 10 telecommunication companies. The solution has grown 50 percent on average every fiscal year since May 2018.<\/p>\n

Virtual Cloud Network is built on best-in-class VMware technologies, including VMware NSX, VMware SD-WAN by VeloCloud, and VMware vRealize Network Insight. The solution connects and secures your apps and data across private, public, and edge\/branch clouds with a scale-out approach independent of underlying physical infrastructure.<\/p>\n

To help better serve its growing customer base, VMware is releasing NSX Federation, which enables enterprises to deliver a cloud-like operating model with fault isolation domains and global policies that are synchronized across all locations. The vendor also announced the general availability of Intrusion Detection and Prevention (IDS\/IPS) capabilities for the service-defined firewall. These new additions (and others) provide the public cloud experience to its customers and makes security intrinsic.<\/p>\n

In the company’s official press release, VMware’s Senior Vice President and General Manager, Networking and Security Business Unit, Tom Gillis stated: \u201cOur Virtual Cloud Network solution is helping our customers provide the public cloud experience on-premise, removing the inefficient IT ticket requests and long waits for networking and security changes. Across private, public and Telco clouds, and from the data center to the branch office, the Virtual Cloud Network has simplified networking, and saved customers time and money. Our data shows customers can experience as much as a 59 percent reduction in capital expenditures and 55 percent reduction in operational expenditures over traditional networking solutions.\u201d<\/p>\n
