According to a survey recently released by Flexera<\/a>, 90 percent of IT decision-makers said that their cloud usage exceeded projections following COVID-19. This information comes from the 2021 State of the Cloud Report<\/em><\/a>, which surveyed 750 global cloud decision-makers and users about the cloud market. The survey found that companies rethought and adapted their cloud thinking as the pandemic hit to adjust to the changing business landscape.<\/p>\n

Flexera discovered how cloud users changed their perspective and behavior on the cloud following the start of the pandemic. 90 percent of responders answered that they expect cloud usage to exceed initial plans due to COVID-19. In addition, just over half (54 percent) of enterprise workloads are expected to be in the public cloud within 12 months.<\/p>\n

The report also showed that 92 percent of enterprises have a multi-cloud strategy, while 80 percent have a hybrid cloud strategy. On average, respondents use about 2.6 public clouds and 2.7 private clouds. 61 percent of enterprises plan to optimize their cloud costs in 2021, making it a top IT and business initiative for five years running.<\/p>\n

In the company’s press release, Flexera’s President and CEO Jim Ryan stated: \u201cCOVID-19 has accelerated the migration to cloud computing. Still, cloud isn\u2019t magic or the land of milk and honey. Companies are moving fast, facing challenges, and trying to connect cloud computing to business outcomes. The Flexera 2021 State of the Cloud Report<\/em> shows that the appetite for digital transformation is high, but real-world challenges\u2014such as managing security and optimizing cloud spend\u2014still must be addressed.\u201d<\/p>\n
