According to a report released by cloud-native logging company Devo<\/a>, 68 percent say that cloud computing makes IT and security operations more complex. This information comes from the Beyond Cloud Adoption: How to Embrace the Cloud for Security and Business Benefits<\/em><\/a> report, based on a survey of 500 IT and security personnel at enterprise-level companies. The report reveals how increased cloud adoption following the pandemic has created new challenges for businesses.<\/p>\n

Devo found that 90 percent of companies increased their use of public cloud computing as a result of the pandemic. For more than one-third of companies, at least half their applications and workloads reside in the public cloud today. 41 percent of organizations have adopted a cloud-first policy, deploying apps in public cloud environments by default.<\/p>\n

However, this increase in public cloud adoption has led to an increased amount of problems for companies who aren’t prepared to deal with the unique challenges the cloud presents. 68 percent of survey respondents answered that cloud computing has made IT and security operations more complex. Only 17 percent say the cloud has made those operations easier, while 15 percent say the cloud has had no effect.<\/p>\n

In the company’s press release on the report, Devo’s SVP of Product Ted Julian stated: \u201cWhile dramatic change is a constant in security, it\u2019s safe to say that 2020 challenged security professionals in unprecedented ways. An amazing and encouraging finding of this study is that nearly a quarter of organizations didn\u2019t just weather the storm of change, they turned it into an opportunity to build for the future.\u201d<\/p>\n
