Tuesday, September 22nd \u2014 Shortly after announcing a partnership with Baidu,\u00a0CloudFlare<\/a>, a company offering a content-delivery network (CDN) with security features to make sure websites stay online and load quickly around the world, announced a $110 million funding round with major strategic investors: Google Capital, Microsoft, Baidu, and Qualcomm.<\/p>\n

Red Hat Claims 2 Billion in Cloud Revenue<\/a><\/p>\n

Tuesday, September 22nd \u2014\u00a0Red Hat, the company behind a flavor of the Linux operating system popular with businesses, and the OpenShift PaaS cloud, should hit $2 billion in revenue this year, chief executive Jim Whitehurst told analysts on the company\u2019s second quarter earnings call\u00a0Monday.<\/p>\n

Citrix in Last Ditch Bid to Sell Itself<\/a><\/p>\n

Tuesday, September 22nd \u2014 Citrix Systems, the cloud computing company targeted by activist hedge fund Elliott Management, is making a final attempt to sell itself as a whole before it embarks on asset sales, according to people familiar with the matter.<\/p>\n

80% of Google For Work Customers Avoid Google Drive<\/a><\/p>\n

Tuesday September 22nd \u2014 Google launched its Google for Work suite of applications almost four years ago, and it now has 5<\/strong> million monthly active users. However, fewer than one in five organizations that pay for Google for Work also use the Google Drive cloud storage option at least once a month, according to the company. Gmail use dominates the portfolio that also includes Hangouts, Docs and other Google apps.<\/p>\n

Microsoft Puffs Up Chest, Declares Its Cloud “Biggest” in Geographic Availabiltiy<\/a><\/p>\n

In the public cloud market, size matters, and Microsoft Azure is the host with the most. Well, the most cloud regions, that is. With 19 cloud regions worldwide, Microsoft\u2019splatform-as-a-service<\/a>-ish Azure cloud platform boasts the largest geographic cloud coverage in the world\u2026according to Mike Schutz, one of Azure\u2019s chief cloud marketers.<\/p>\n
