You’re my Greatest Mistake: Biggest Cloud Adoption Enterprise Error

Is it Time For Your Small Business to Move to the Cloud?

Cisco: By 2020, 92% of Workloads Will be Processed by Cloud Data Centers VS Traditional Data CentersEnterprises are starting to adopt cloud platforms more and more, and tightening their security while increasing productivity. However, a recent study reported that more than 75 percent of businesses are utilizing more than one cloud solution as opposed to a unified platform. This could be their greatest mistake when it comes to the cloud.

Embotics worked with 451 Research to complete a study on current cloud solutions. They found that more than one platform meant that businesses had to invest in third party cloud management or manually join their cloud tools. That was clearly not an easy process and users complained about waiting extended periods of time for a response, complicated resource tracking and little transparency from IT departments.

While individual tools can be helpful when they stand alone, the disadvantages stand out. CMiC lists the following reasons why:

  • Complexity: Tools that aren’t compatible with one another add data silos to deal with and often cause productivty to take a dive.
  • Overlapping Data: More than one tool may produce data sets that conflict or overlap others, which could cause operations to slow down.
  • IT Security: One tool means only one tool to protect.

They go on to suggest the following steps to take to sidestep disadvantages that come with multiple cloud solutions:

  • Establish a Game Plan: If you’d to purchase a new tool, look at how it will work with your overall system and pick a solution that is both compatible and useful.
  • Consider Flexibility: Enterprises should pick a unified solution that will scale with your business and will integrate with external tools.

Cloud-based solutions can unite your processes once you know how to utilize them properly. Be sure to research all the information around this topic to gain the most from your new tool.
