Hyland\u2019s Marketing Portfolio Manager Danielle Simer <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.onbase.com\/onbase\/no-love-lost-3-reasons-to-break-up-with-your-legacy-ecm-on-valentines-day\/?hootPostID=dc1cad8c8024b523121a758a89977438\" target=\"_blank\">recently took to the company\u2019s blog<\/a> to share that breakups actually increase around Valentine\u2019s Day and we think this should apply to more than just your significant other. February is a great time to evaluate vendors and ask yourself if you really like them and what they offer.<\/p>\n<p>Simer suggests asking the following questions:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Has your ECM vendor stopped providing meaningful product enhancements?<\/li>\n<li>Does its development road map still align with your needs?<\/li>\n<li>Has it been acquired by or merged with another company?<\/li>\n<li>Will the merger affect ongoing product support and training?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>I have to focus on myself<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>How can you possibly get all of your work done if your ECM system doesn\u2019t offer all the features you need? And if you don\u2019t have access to the features, how can your business create a new layer of efficiency?<\/p>\n<p>The answer may just be converting to another platform all together.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cConversion is an opportunity to\u00a0gain new functionality like workflow management, document capture, records management or integration with email systems or mobile devices \u2013 all of which greatly improve your processes,\u201d Simer said.<\/p>\n<p><strong>My friends don\u2019t like you<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Your ECM solution should be able to connect with your other core business systems. If it doesn\u2019t, the solution could leave your employees without access to necessary information. We can assure you that they will not like that.<\/p>\n<p>So if you\u2019ve implemented an Enterprise Resource Planning or Human Capital Management solution, be sure that your ECM tool is running on an updated platform.<\/p>\n<p><strong>You cost too much<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Be sure that your ECM tool is still within your budget. The cost to initially launch your system is normally much greater that the total cost of ownership.
