A new Boomi API Developer Portal provides self-service consumer engagement options via the discoverability of available services. It also allows developers to self-administer applications, self-register and approve the use of APIs. The Boomi API Gateway acts as a governance mechanism, and was built on top of the Boomi Atom runtime distribution technology. The feature is ideal for governing external APIs or internal microservices that require protection. This can be done on-prem, in the cloud or at the edge.

Boomi’s API Proxy enables the ability to use the platform as a centralized mechanism for all APIs and services created within our outside of Boomi. The API Proxy lets users incorporate third-party data and third-party APIs as well.

Existing Boomi customers can leverage the new Event Driven Architecture solutions through a new EDA page. The initiative focuses on building a stronger partner ecosystem with vendors that specialize in brokers, event meshes, streaming, and pub/sub technology. Boomi already offers integrations for Amazon SQS, Microsoft Azure Service Bus services, and Pivotal’s RabbitMQ.

In a statement to Solutions Review, the company’s Chief Product Officer Steve Wood spoke about the new capabilities, saying: “We are bringing conversational AI and business insights to our customers and partners, and making it easy to quickly take advantage of these new capabilities. Our API management updates are enabling our customers to expand their ecosystem and securely scale their business in the API economy.”

According to the Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA), Boomi is the best Integration Platform as a Service (iPaaS) product right now. The accolade comes as a result of Boomi’s win in the 2019 SIAA CODiE Awards, a contest that aims to highlight the top products in a number of software categories. Related award areas include API management and best information and data delivery solutions.
