Gartner Names Winners of 2019 Voice of the Customer for Data Integration Tools

Analyst house Gartner, Inc. recently announced the winners of its new 2019 Peer Insights Voice of the Customer: Data Integration ToolsThe report marks the latest addition to the researcher’s expansive list of buyer-centric resources, which already includes its popular Magic Quadrant and Critical Capabilities. Gartner Peer Insights provides first-hand reviews of software and services contributed by enterprise users. The new report is an extension of Gartner’s Customer Choice Awards released last year.

Peer Insights Voice of the Customer does not include an expansive vendor listing or proprietary graphic to help organizations select the best tools. Rather, it provides reviews that go through a strict validation process to ensure they are authentic. Gartner Peer Insights are meant to be a complement to its expert-led research reports. Vendors with greater than 25 reviews in the past year as of October 31, 2018 were included in the report. At Solutions Review, we read the report, available here, and pulled out the key takeaways.

Magic Quadrant leaders enter the Customers’ Choice Zone

Informatica, Microsoft and Talend have been awarded Gartner’s Customer Choice delineation for 2019. The three providers offer an almost dizzying number of different data integration tools, depending on the use case. Informatica’s PowerCenter solution garnered the most reviews with 248, nearly 75 more than the next most-reviewed product (Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services). Talend users are very likely to recommend the product, with 84 percent of reference customers checking this box (third-most of any vendor covered).

Alteryx and Denodo are the top scorers

Of providers with 50 or more verified user reviews, Alteryx and Denodo were the report’s top scorers. Alteryx’s Designer product received the third-most reviews with 100, resulting in a score of 4.8 stars. Denodo’s data virtualization platform also scored 4.8 stars, but with 64 reviews. Denodo users were also most likely to recommend the product to others, scoring a perfect 100 percent in terms of user willingness to recommend. Denodo’s score was also tops for overall rating (4.9 stars), and product capabilities as well (4.8 stars).

Gartner recommends using customer reviews to supplement vendor evaluation

Where Gartner’s Magic Quadrants are aimed at helping organizations identify vendors to keep tabs on in the overall marketplace, peer reviews are driven only by customer feedback based on specific experiences relative to unique technology environments. That’s where the disconnect can sometimes come from when comparing analyst resources to individual reviews. In this way it is best to utilize all the tools at your disposal when assessing data integration software.
