Collibra recently announced its acquisition of predictive data quality software provider OwlDQ, according to a press release on the company’s website. OwlDQ uses machine learning to detect anomalies in data as a way to generate data quality rules automatically for reconciling replication errors. The integration of OwlDQ into Collibra’s Data Intelligence Cloud will see the creation of a new offering called Collibra Data Quality.

The Collibra Platform is made up of five distinct solutions. Headlined by an enterprise data catalog called Collibra Catalog, the platform also includes Collibra Governance, Collibra Privacy & Risk, Collibra Lineage, and now Collibra Data Intelligence Cloud. Collibra documents an organization’s technical metadata and how it is used. It describes the structure of a piece of data, its relationship to other data, and its origin, format, and use. The solution serves as a searchable repository for users who need to understand how and where data is stored and how it can be used.

Collibra Data Quality will allow organizations to centralize and automate data quality workflows for streamlining enterprise analytics and complying with global regulations. In a media statement about the news, Collibra Chief Product Officer Jim Cushman said “Together, Collibra and OwlDQ will provide organizations with a single, cloud-based system of engagement to unify data governance, data privacy, data catalog, data lineage and now continuous data quality so teams can more easily and confidently get to trusted business insights and become data informed.”

OwlDQ’s CEO Kirk Haslbeck also released a comment, saying “We are so excited to bring OwlDQ together with the Collibra Data Intelligence Cloud to provide a unified, scalable solution across diverse databases, files and streams with continuous and comprehensive self-service data quality through ML-powered, auto-discovered and adaptive data quality rules.”

2020 was a banner year for Collibra as the provider secured more than $100 million in Series F funding in April and launched its Data Intelligence Cloud in June.
