Commvault has announced new capabilities that extend its cloud solutions, according to a press release on the company’s website. Enhancements include new support for the backup and recovery of AWS databases, ServiceNow integration, and migration of Oracle and MS SQL databases across multiple clouds such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, Alibaba Cloud Elastic Compute Service (ECS).

Commvault offers a cloud data management product that allows organizations to manage data via on-prem and cloud deployments. Users can fully manage data across files, applications, databases, hypervisors, and clouds (including Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, and Oracle Cloud). The tool also includes Commvault’s popular backup and disaster recovery, as well as e-discovery, capabilities.

The update enables customers to back up, recover, and migrate AWS DynamoDB, Redshift, and DocumentDB database solutions. Users can also convert, back up, and migrate VMware workloads to the Alibaba CLOUD ECS. Further integration with the ServiceNow platform provides self-service so customers can back up, recover, and migrate file systems, VMs, Microsoft SQL Server workloads and other ServiceNow catalog assets. Oracle Unix databases can be converted to Linux and vice versa as well.

Commvault users can now sign in once to manage Commvault across multiple deployments via a pull-down menu that enables navigation across Commvault Command Center. The backup, recovery and data management provider also simplified the user experience for its Commvault Activate product by allowing users to schedule data collection and access reports on File Storage Optimization, Sensitive Data Governance, and eDiscovery from the Commvault Command Center.

In a media statement about the news, Commvault Vice President of Product Management Ranga Rajagopalan said: “With these new capabilities we are making it easier for our customers to move more workloads into the cloud and offering greater simplicity and flexibility in managing and protecting their data, wherever it resides.”
