Gartner Names Winners of 2019 Voice of the Customer for Data Quality Tools

Analyst house Gartner, Inc. recently announced the winners of its new 2019 Peer Insights Voice of the Customer: Data Quality Tools. The report marks the latest addition to the researcher’s expansive list of buyer-centric resources, which already includes its popular Magic Quadrant and Critical Capabilities. Gartner Peer Insights provides first-hand reviews of software and services contributed by enterprise users. The new report is an extension of Gartner’s Customer Choice Awards released last year.

Peer Insights Voice of the Customer does not include an expansive vendor listing or proprietary graphic to help organizations select the best tools. Rather, it provides reviews that go through a strict validation process to ensure they are authentic. Gartner Peer Insights are meant to be a complement to its expert-led research reports. At Solutions Review, we read the report, available here, and pulled out the key takeaways.

Information Builders secures the top score, but with the fewest ratings

Though Information Builders received a total of just 12 overall reviews, the BI and data management provider secured the top score of any vendor included in Gartner’s analysis. With an overall rating of 4.6 stars and top score of 4.9 stars, IB’s closest competitor in the data quality tools space according to reference customers is Ataccama (4.5 stars). Information Builders released a self-service data quality tool earlier this year. The solution allows for data exploration and the ability to run analyze value patterns and compliance, with rules for standard and common content types.

Reference customers are most likely to recommend Ataccama

A whopping 88 percent of Gartner reference users are showing a willingness to recommend Ataccama. Given that the mean percentage of willingness to recommend was just 74 percent, this represents a clear positive outlier. Ataccama also scored the highest for the evaluation and contracting and integration and deployment categories. The Ataccama ONE platform offers a machine learning-centric user interface, as well as a data processing engine that is responsible for data transformations, evaluating business rules, and matching and merging rules.

Gartner recommends using customer reviews to supplement vendor evaluation

Where Gartner’s Magic Quadrants are aimed at helping organizations identify vendors to keep tabs on in the overall marketplace, peer reviews are driven only by customer feedback based on specific experiences relative to unique technology environments. That’s where the disconnect can sometimes come from when comparing analyst resources to individual reviews. In this way it is best to utilize all the tools at your disposal when assessing data integration software.
