Hortonworks recently announced the release of Operational Services, a subscription-based service that provides a fully managed Hortonworks Data Platform (HDP) experience. The new service provides existing customers with ongoing access to the company’s support teams for HDP and Hortonworks DataFlow. At its core, the company’s aim is to help organizations with their new and existing deployments.

Operational Services provide round-the-clock support for HDP and HDF environments, as well as configuration, management, and maintenance for HDP components. In addition, it also includes multi-tenancy management within the cluster, capacity planning and forecasting, tailored support, and on-site architecture reviews on a per-quarter basis. The services also helps to ensure the reliability of Hortonworks deployments by applying upgrades and patches, hotfixes, failover testing, and root cause analysis.

The support suite offers interoperability of new data clusters within an existing architecture. It also replicated the management and backup of data for multiple geographic sites, offering proactive testing for business continuity planning.

In a press statement, the company’s Chief of Technology Scott Gnau said: “Hortonworks has extensive experience running the entire Apache Hadoop stack in production, at scale, on the most demanding workloads. With a proven track record of supporting our big data platforms at leading companies and on multiple tiers, we are in a unique position to efficiently manage the operations of customer environments at high performance.”

Hortonworks was included in analyst and research firm Gartner’s February Magic Quadrant for Data Management Solutions for Analytics. The company was also named to the Deloitte Technology Fast 500 as one of the fastest-growing technology companies in the world in December.
