MarkLogic Adds New Layer of Security to Flagship Database Product

MarkLogic recently announced the release of MarkLogic 9.0-5, the latest version of the company’s NoSQL database. The update is highlighted by what the company is referring to as a ‘smarter’ Data Hub Framework (DHF). DHF is a reference framework for building centralized data hubs. The framework now comes pre-installed with MarkLogic and features a new streamlined API and several data ingestion and performance enhancements. It also includes better search, SQL and Semantics.

MarkLogic is best for applications that involve heterogeneous large-scale data integration or content delivery. The company has made a name for itself as a result of its strong focus on unifying silos of data. Organizations can ingest structured and unstructured data with a flexible data model that adapts to changing data. It also natively stores JSON, XML, text, and geospatial data. MarkLogic’s UniversalFlagship Database Index enables users to search across all data, and APIs enable application development and deployment. The database has ACID transactions, scalability and elasticity, and certified security as well.

Version 9.0-5 aims to make the platform semantically aware of enterprise data by utilizing ontology-driven entity extraction. The enhancement allows for the identification of key components in unstructured data specifically, either by extracting them or making them up in place. Secure cloud deployments are also at the heart of this release, with MarkLogic’s advanced encryption features tied to native AWS key management services. New support for Amazon VPC and a new configuration management API round out the add-ons.
