MemSQL is re-branding to SingleStore, according to a press release on the company’s website. Though MemSQL is a well-recognized name among data architects and performance engineers, the company’s flagship data management product has expanded to include developer capabilities and “no longer reflected the breadth and depth of current capabilities and product vision”, according to SingleStore. Solutions Review recently named MemSQL a 2020 Vendor to Know in Data Management.

Our Buyer’s Guide for Data Management Platforms helps you evaluate the best solution for your use case and features profiles of the leading providers, as well as a category overview of the marketplace.

SingleStore can ingest and transform millions of events per day while also analyzing billions of rows of data using standard SQL. It can be deployed on-prem, in the cloud via Amazon Web Services or Microsoft Azure, or as a service including drop-in compatibility with existing middleware, integration, and BI software. The tool offers excellent real-time data streaming capabilities, and now provides more efficient query isolation for large volumes of data and many users.

The new vision for SingleStore is the ability to access data no matter where it is located, even if its location is beyond the platform, via federated access. The new name also brings new product and service line names. SingleStore DB will continue to provide a converged data platform for transactions, analytics, and operationalizing machine learning. Formerly MemSQL Helios, SingleStore Managed Service will continue to offer a translytical database with converged transactional and analytical capabilities.

In a media statement, SingleStore CEO Raj Verma said: “We couldn’t be happier to call ourselves SingleStore, a name that aptly defines us and our ability to change how our customers use data. Companies around the world can use SingleStore to gain faster insights, eliminate complexity, and substantially lower the costs related to their data strategies.”
