New Alation Data Governance App Touts Automated Policy Control

Alation announced via press release the release and general availability of its new mobile application, the Alation Data Governance App. The new app offers autonomous and continual data governance using machine learning and AI. It also enhances data governance capabilities for the Snowflake Data Cloud. The built-in integration for Snowflake allows joint customers to centrally manage data policies, protected data assets, and policy compliance in a single pane of glass.

Alation offers a platform for a broad range of data intelligence solutions including data search and discovery, data governance, data stewardship, analytics, and digital transformation. The product features a Behavioral Analysis Engine, inbuilt collaboration capabilities, and open interfaces. Alation also profiles data and monitors usage to ensure that users have accurate insight into data accuracy. The platform provides insight into how users are creating and sharing information from raw data as well.

The app’s Centralized Policy Center automates policy control, management, and data policy synchronization. Policies can be applied and enforced on data at the time of use, helping meet security and compliance objectives. New governance dashboards monitor and measure the progress of data governance programs and provides insight into curation progress, policy compliance, and open governance tasks as well. An included stewardship workbench automates stewardship by updating and curating catalog metadata in bulk via the user interface..
