MemSQL recently announced<\/a> the release of MemSQL 6.5, adding capabilities to further hasten data management. The update is highlighted by up to four times faster queries and new automated workload optimization features that provide dependable database response under high concurrency. In addition, the “transform-as-you-ingest” framework allows users to utilize stored procedures for in-database transformations. There are also resource optimization improvements present for multi-tenant deployments.<\/p>\n

MemSQL can ingest and transform millions of events per day while also analyzing billions of rows of data using standard SQL. The tool can be deployed on-prem, in the cloud via Amazon Web Services or Microsoft Azure, or as a service including drop-in compatibility with existing middleware, integration, and BI software. MemSQL is available in two editions: Developer (not for product deployments) and Enterprise.<\/p>\n

Version 6.5 features full-text search built in, eliminating the need for specialized data stores. The product now incorporates a dedicated data pipeline for Hadoop as well, allowing developers to ingest from Hadoop into a structured relational format using ANSI SQL. The company’s co-founder and CEO Nikita Shamgunov adds: “Legacy databases aren\u2019t capable of providing the scale, speed, and efficiency that NewSQL databases can.\u00a0With MemSQL 6.5, companies are getting a database that allows them to do more with the data that drives their business. All with familiar tools, faster than before, and at a fraction of the cost.”<\/p>\n

This update comes on the heels of MemSQL’s May series D round that saw the company close on $30 million<\/a> in venture capital.\u00a0The provider\u00a0ended its fiscal year<\/a>\u00a0with fourth quarter commercial bookings growing more than 200 percent. Additionally, MemSQL established a\u00a0new baseline for speed<\/a>\u00a0by delivering a scan rate over a trillion rows per second on 12 Intel servers \u2013 something that organizations with very large data sets surely appreciate.<\/p>\n

MemSQL\u2019s star is certainly on the rise, as the company was included in several major analyst reports in the last few months. Solutions Review named the vendor one of\u00a05 Data Management Solutions for Analytics Vendors to Watch in 2018<\/a>\u00a0in January. Shortly after, Gartner included the company as a market challenger in its\u00a0Magic Quadrant for Data Management Solutions for Analytics<\/a><\/em>. CRN also grouped MemSQL amongst some of the coolest big data startups in its May\u00a0Big Data 100<\/em><\/a>\u00a0listing.<\/p>\n
