Database Trends and Applications recently released its 2018 Readers’ Choice Awards<\/em><\/a> winners, a listing of the best solution providers chosen by the publication’s subscribers.\u00a0What sets this apart from other DBTA awards programs is that actual users have nominated and chosen the winners, not the journal’s researchers – a trend that is becoming increasingly common amongst the major analyst houses. The awards are broken down by technology category and aimed at highlighting the products that “provide unique value.”<\/p>\n

DBTA features 28 category specific<\/a> awards that span a number of solution providers. Given the changing nature of each marketplace that was analyzed, some of the vendors are household names while others are up-and-comers looking to establish themselves in the data and analytics space. The crowd selects: MarkLogic<\/strong><\/h5>\n

MarkLogic offers an operational and transactional enterprise NoSQL database that is designed to integrate, store, manage, and search for data. Organizations can ingest structured and unstructured data with a flexible data model that adapts to changing data. It also natively stores JSON, XML, text, and geospatial data. MarkLogic\u2019s Universal Index enables users to search across all data, and APIs enable application development and deployment. The database has ACID transactions, scalability and elasticity, and certified security as well.<\/p>\n

MarkLogic is best for applications that involve heterogeneous large-scale data integration or content delivery. The company released version 9 of its flagship platform in May, and features new entity services, an optic API, and a slew of security add-ons. MarkLogic has made a name for itself as a result of its strong focus on unifying silos of data. The company was founded in 2001 and has raised more than $173 million in venture capital to date.<\/p>\n
