Hitachi Vantara today announced its new Lumada Data Catalog, according to a press release<\/a> on the company’s website. The release comes as Hitachi closed on its January acquisition<\/a> of machine learning-enabled data cataloging provider Waterline Data. Waterline Data is based in Mountain View, California and raised more than $37 million in venture capital over three rounds since its founding in 2013. The Lumada Data Catalog is a result of integrating Waterline Data’s technology into the Hitachi Vantara Lumada portfolio. Waterline Founder and CTO Alex Gorelik led the product integration.<\/p>\n

The Lumada Data Catalog expands Hitachi’s suite of DataOps solutions, providing a way for customers to unify distributed silos of data across the cloud, data infrastructure, and the machines and devices at network edges. It uses machine learning to discover and manage enterprise data. The tool allows organizations to automatically and incrementally \u201cfingerprint\u201d data and infer its lineage by analyzing data values for relational, cloud, and Hadoop data.<\/p>\n

In a statement to Solutions Review, Hitachi Vantara Chief Product Officer Sanjay Chikarmane said: “Organizations small and large are looking to do more with their data but siloed datasets, regulatory compliance and governance often hinder their ability to do so. With the unique fingerprinting technology of Lumada Data Catalog, we\u2019re adding an incredibly strong component to our portfolio of DataOps solutions that allows them to overcome these challenges.”<\/p>\n
