Atlan recently announced that it raised $16 million in Series A funding led by Global Venture Capital and Insight Partners, according to a press release. The capital injection will be used to expand its current team of 40 across marketing, sales, and customer success, as well as hasten its go-to-market plans. Atlan’s data workspace platform offers capabilities in four key areas, including data cataloging and discovery, data quality and profiling, data lineage and governance, and data exploration and integration. The product features a Google-like Search interface, automatic data profiling, and a searchable business glossary for generating a common understanding of data. Users can also manage data usage and adoption across an ecosystem via granular governance and access controls, no matter where your data goes.<\/p>\n

Atlan started as an internal project at data for good firm SocialCops and was then incubated across more than 200 data projects. The firm has reported 16X growth within the last two quarters and is currently used by teams and large enterprises alike. Atlan was named one of three Cool Vendors in DataOps<\/em><\/span><\/a><\/strong> in 2020 by analyst house Gartner, Inc.<\/p>\n

In a media statement on the news, Atlan co-founder Prukalpa Sankar said: “Today, data assets are not just tables, but code, models, BI dashboards, and pipelines. At Atlan, we are reimagining the human experience with data \u2014 why can\u2019t data assets be shared as easily as sharing a link on Google Docs, or if Google Analytics can tell you usage on a website, why can\u2019t we do the same for our data?”<\/span><\/p>\n
