Pure Storage Enters Agreement to Acquire PortworxPure Storage has announced it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Portworx for approximately $370 million in cash. Portworx is a leading Kubernetes data services platform provider that runs mission-critical applications in containers in production. This deal represents Pure Storage’s largest acquisition to date, as well as the company’s further expansion into the market for multi-cloud data services to support Kubernetes and containers.

Pure Storage is an all-flash enterprise storage provider that enables the broad deployment of flash in data centers. Its technologies enable Software as a Service (SaaS) organizations, cloud service providers, and enterprise and public sector users to deliver secure data to power their DevOps and modern analytics environments in a multi-cloud environment. The vendor’s platforms accelerate random I/O-intensive applications such as server virtualization, desktop virtualization (VDI), database (OLTP, rich analytics/OLAP, SQL, and NoSQL), and cloud computing.

Portworx is the Kubernetes Data Services Platform most used by Global 2000 companies to deliver storage, high availability, data protection, data security, and cloud mobility for containers deployed in hybrid cloud architectures. By combining Portworx container data services with Pure Storage’s data platforms and Pure Service Orchestrator software, Pure will offer a comprehensive suite of data services that can be deployed in-cloud, on bare metal, or on enterprise arrays, all natively orchestrated in Kubernetes. With Portworx, Pure Storage aims to provide the industry’s most complete platform for every stage of the cloud-native journey.
