\"NetAppNetApp <\/span>recently announced<\/span><\/a> that it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire <\/span>CloudCheckr<\/span><\/a>. As private and public sector organizations together with managed service providers have deepened investments in cloud services over the past few years, cloud cost has become an obstacle to a company\u2019s journey to the cloud. CloudCheckr is a leading cloud optimization platform that offers cloud visibility and insights to reduce costs, maintain security, maintain compliance, and optimize cloud resources. Financial details of the transaction are not being disclosed.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

NetApp<\/span><\/a> is a storage, cloud computing, information technology, and data management solution provider. In addition to predominantly offering on-prem storage infrastructure, the provider also specializes in hybrid cloud data services that facilitate the management of applications and data across cloud and on-prem environments in order to accelerate digital transformation. The vendor\u2019s solution, StorageGRID, is an object storage platform whose primary access method is the Amazon S3 API. The tool offers hybrid cloud workflow and adheres to SEC and FINRA regulations. In June, NetApp acquired Data Mechanics for an undisclosed amount.<\/span><\/p>\n

This acquisition extends Spot by NetApp\u2019s FinOps offering by combining critical cost visibility and reporting from the CloudCheckr platform with continuous cost optimization and managed services from Spot by NetApp. These capabilities will enable enterprises to better understand and continuously improve their cloud resources and realize the benefits of cloud faster and at scale.<\/span><\/p>\n

In a press statement, Anthony Lye, executive vice president and general manager of NetApp\u2019s Public Cloud Services business unit, said, \u201cmanaging costs while accelerating cloud applications is a significant challenge for organizations as they work to maximize the ROI of their cloud investments, all while running at cloud speed. By adding cloud billing analytics, cost management capabilities, cloud compliance, and security to our CloudOps platform through the acquisition of CloudCheckr, we are enabling organizations to deploy infrastructure and business applications faster while reducing their capital and operational costs. This is a critical step forward in our FinOps strategy as well as an acceleration of our overall CloudOps leadership. Simply put, NetApp continues to empower customers to achieve more cloud at less cost.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
