Palo Alto Networks Plans to Acquire EDR Vendor Secdo

Californian endpoint security solution provider Palo Alto Networks today announced their intentions to acquire Israeli endpoint detection and response (EDR) and security automation vendor Secdo. The endpoint protection platform vendor aims to incorporate Secdo’s EDR capabilities and visualization features into their endpoint protection platform Palo Alto Networks Traps. The exact details of the acquisition, including financial information, has not been made public at time of writing. Palo Alto expects the acquisition to close in the fiscal third quarter. The deal is subject to customary closing conditions. The press release announcing the acquisition suggests that Secdo will be folded into the endpoint protection platform.

Palo Alto’s Chairman and CEO Mark McLaughlin said in a statement: “We believe security operations teams need the most advanced and consistent approach to endpoint security. With Secdo’s EDR capabilities as part of our platform, we will accelerate our ability to detect and prevent successful cyberattacks across the cloud, endpoint, and network.”

Shai Morag, Co-founder and CEO of Secdo, also gave a statement: “We founded Secdo to dramatically increase visibility for security operations teams to reduce the time it takes to detect and respond to an alert. The combined capabilities of Secdo and Palo Alto Networks will provide customers the capabilities they need to swiftly and accurately detect and respond to cyberattacks.”
