The platform is designed to allow administrators to manage corporate-owned endpoints, regardless of operating system, and enforce endpoint security via a centralized cloud infrastructure. The goal is to ensure security policies are consistent and enforced across disparate endpoints, accommodating employees’ choice in mobile device. This new platform seems designed to facilitate the transition to a bring-your-own-device corporate culture while maintaining endpoint security.

Senior Vice President and General Manager of Products Dan Schiappa said in a statement: “Mobile devices continue to be the fastest growing malware target. Personal and IoT devices on the network represent a significant threat to corporate security due to management and discovery issues. With Sophos Mobile 8, IT admins in any size of business can manage and secure all their MacOS, Windows, and mobile endpoints from a single management platform.”

In their press release, Sophos made mention of the increase of malicious, malware-laden apps; they made especial  mention of threats disguised as regular apps on the Google Play Store, plaguing Android users with adware or cryptojacking software. Sophos Mobile 8 is available now as both as a cloud-based and on-premise endpoint security platform.
