Today endpoint protection platform provider Trend Micro unveiled a new next-gen endpoint security product: the Trend Micro Apex One. The Trend Micro Apex One is designed to serve as a single agent for a wide breadth of endpoint protection capabilities for Security-as-a-Service (SaaS) and on-premises deployments.
According to a press release, the Trend Micro Apex One offers automated detection & response capabilities, endpoint detection and response (EDR), and actionable insights. The product also connected to Trend Micro’s managed detection and response solution.
Kevin Simzer, Chief Operating Officer at Trend Micro, said in a statement: “Our latest release has advancements that address the most pressing endpoint security issues being faced in the industry today. Despite the claims of some so-called ‘next-gen’ vendors, effective protection requires multiple layers of security, which is foundational to our strategy.”
EDR has become one of the sought-after capabilities in next-generation endpoint security solutions as the cybersecurity paradigm shifts from prevention to detection and remediation. Endpoint security vendors are working to incorporate EDR capabilities either through acquiring other solution providers with EDR or through developing their own.
In either case, EDR’s increased essentiality in enterprise solutions has further rendered legacy endpoint security solutions obsolete. Enterprises looking to improve their cybersecurity posture should look for to next-generation solutions to protect their digital perimeter.
